The best ever Euroseason for NK Rijeka. In the first round "Bijeli" (the whites) eliminated Belgian side Berschoot VAV, and by doing so enjoyed a small revenge for preavious year's loss to Beveren. After a clean 0:2 against Lokomotiva Kosice, NK Rijeka seemed out of the competition only to resurface with a triumphant 3:0 beating of the same opponent under the rocks of Kantrida. Juventus proved to be too strong in the quater finals, but "Bijeli" still played a great first game against one of the biggest teams ever to visit Rijeka.
